The Rivalry
Many MMORPG players seem to think WoW is a better game than GW, no questions asked. But we're more of a thorn in their side than they think... with newer and improved features in the newer campaigns and the expansion, we're offering a wider range of offers than they expected of us. So, with our expanding variety and growing populace, it's not long before GW must be considered in the WoW league.
And, with the release of GW2 in a few years that offers everything WoW does and much more, we'll finally be ahead; but, as I've noticed in Microsoft and Sony's ongoing "console war," there are always retaliatory strikes. Do you think, even though GW2 will be the clear winner, WoW will try to bite back? to what extent do you think this will go? I'm interested in hearing everyone's impressions.

Guild Wars will never become more popular then WoW. This is coming from a GW player.
Anyways this is just going to turn into WoW vs GW crap.

And they're right. This is also coming from a long term GW player. As for GW2, you're looking at 2009-10 release by then god only knows what else will turn up in the video game market. So I'm not holding my breath for it, might pick it up when it comes out.
2+ year is a very long time to wait for anyting.

WoW has 9 million active subscribers. So what? At least 1 million of those are probably bots.

WoW has a superior RPG and character design element.
However, the UN-instanced environments mean constant fighting among players...I know too many people who got into it for the above advantage and kept having loot and quest objectives stolen by people who would get that last shot in to claim the quest reward after they'd done all the work.
The graphics in WoW also seem sloppy, almost harkening back to the polygonal days.
Plus you have to PAY to play WoW, regardless of your actual game experience.
Guild Wars has consistently amazing graphics with breathtaking landscapes.
The Instanced environments provide players the chance to explore and play the game at their own speed, competing with fellow players only in organized areas instead of anywhere and everywhere.
The limited skill bar requires a much more strategic approach to playing against the environment.
No monthly fees mean you can play forever, or take a break for awhile then jump back in, without having to shell out more money.
In short, GW is better.

And how many of the 3.5 million copies sold were used for bots? :\
I strongly disagree with that. Overall WoW isn't better then GW, and GW isn't better then WoW. Both are completely different games, comparing the 2 is stupid. It's like saying Call of Duty 4 is better then Manhunt 2. You're comparing two different games. Now if WoW and GW were remotely alike, it would be different. But they aren't.

Flame thread starting soon!
Honestly though, each side will have it's own fanbois. Neither side is ever going to win this war because of the loyal fans.

If you like neccesary grind wow is your game, but guild wars... oh wait *off to farm sunspear points*
But really I played WoW and got to level 15 quit. In the first area you have to kill x number of harpys for some guy (please flame me), so I do that and other quests and finally get to the barrens, where ANOTHER Type of harpy is rampant and I have to kill EVEN MORE of them. This is of course evident in all the quests, there is little variation, I'll admit Guild wars can have some boring quests, but nothing compared to this(in Guild wars you have some storyline to the quests). After collecting 15 centaur bracers I wanted to rape one of them out the eyes. This is my opinion :P
Guild wars has much more depth. (Wow does has a very interesting history I'll admit). I geuss I'm just not a "hardcore" player.
This all reminds me of a character of the Fantastic Four.
On a side note, has anyone tryed Exteel? I d/l'd it but I cant install the plaync launcher for some reason. It looks quite fetch.
